Q&A: Is Home Business Success Kit a scam?

May 16th, 2012 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Home Based Business Jobs

Is Home Business Success Kit a scam?
I have looking at some online home business kit but found many complaints about how they cheat and are scams (e.g. Google Kit).

It appears that Mick Moore’s Home Business Success Kit has received much attention and wonder if he is one of the Internet scams?

Thank you.

Suggestion by Adah Callaway
Everything I’ve seen on him points to him being legit. Haven’t heard or seen a bad thing about him anywhere. That doesn’t necessarily mean that what he offers really works but it’s a good bet. There are some decent home based businesses out there though, so don’t be discouraged. I recently became a part of one myself for extra income – just email me if you want details on that. But Mick’s sounds good.

Suggestion by B-Lust
Took longer to search it & then click on the site, then it did to see it is a total SCAM!

Home-Based business scams? Which companies to avoid?

Home-Based business scams? Which companies to avoid?
I was wondering if anyone was willing to share their personal experiences about being tricked by work-from-home/internet income/”get rich quick”/home-based business scams. I am looking for a legitimate income opportunity where I can work from home (If there is such a thing LOL) and I would like to know which programs and companies to avoid.

Suggestion by Ed Atun
Avoid them all. They tease you with promises but they never deliver. YOu won’t see any money. They just want your personal and credit card information. Once they have that , they don’t need you any more.

What are some home based business that are scams and that we should stay away from?
I would like to see the types of so called home based business that you have found to be dishonest and etc. This would help a lot of us!

Suggestion by Business_CEO
those ones that you get in you email , and those advertised on tv
that has cheap websites and commercial s

Suggestion by RAY
If there’s no mention of taxes, it’s a scam. Any legitimate opportunity has to, under the law, withhold taxes or send you a 1099. That should be your first clue. The only legitimate business that guarantees you 100% profit after taxes and expenses is in your own business. It costs about $ 80 to set up and is tax deductible for business expense. As for the other things you’ll hear about ask about the taxes and you’ll get your answer. If you have a lot of time and energy to put into helping someone else make money, take their advice. If you want to control your own wealth, take my advice. Hope this helps!

Suggestion by Ajaya Panda
Home Business Scams are may be as belows :
1. Reading / Processing E-mails
2. Data Entry
etc etc

But instead of reading e-mails, you are coming under the traps of so called revenue sharing business companies. Actually you are helping to earn, and you read your mail or unsolicited mails or spam mails and your sponsor company pays and after all you will not get anything.

Not all home based business are spams. Like there are companies, who are looking/ empploying professionals from related field. Like Medical Transcript, Legal assistant, Website designers, programmers, etc. and a related professional can earn some money sitting / processing the work in home.

Hope it would clarify the querry.

Suggestion by shaiinfomed
The best way to stay away from the scams is to start your own business. You would do better than if you gave someone your money and got nothing in return. Think about what you like to do and figure out how you can make money from that and take it from there.

You may want to check out WAHM.com. There are a lot of businesses listed there. If you find something you are interested in post the company to the forum and people will tell you if it is a scam.

I am not affiliated with the site other than the fact that I participate in the forum there all the time. I have my own business and I also rep for other companies, so it is a good networking site for me.

I distribute documentaries and have a total of nearly 70 titles books and movies. I use these in two ways. First as a distributor I want these seen and read first and foremeost. They are cutting edge and attempt to answer hard questions Americans and people the world over are asking about what in the hell is going on in this country. Secondly as such I give them to my affiliates in MammothList to copy and give/send to their affiliates.
The site is here http://www.mammothlist.net/?r=12241 it costs $ 12 and you get the works. There is a seperate site that I use that you can access for additional information I’ll even throw in a free Star Trek Transporter Chamber to the next 10 people to sign up.

Suggestion by Elaine T
In April, I joined an industry leader in health and wellness. I am very pleased with it. They have a generous commission, 70% on the first order from a new customer and 21% after that.

I don’t have to carry inventory as the customer buys directly from the company. There is no selling to family and friends as the company gets the customers for me from their infomercials.

It is in CANADA and USA only.

Q&A: What are good ideas for a women who wants to have a home base business?

Q&A: What are good ideas for a women who wants to have a home base business? women wants Ideas home good business base

What are good ideas for a women who wants to have a home base business?
I don’t like working for others, I want to make money on my own by having a home business but I need ideas. I was thinking daycare, dog walking, selling clothes. Any other ideas????

Suggestion by bgt5ki8
raise produce, I am doing about 1 acre with my sister which is a lot of work, but I expect to make at least $ 10,000 but that will take about all my time this summer and you might not have that much land to use, but if you do I would highly recommend a book called “BACKYARD MARKET GARDENING” by Andy Lee and Patricia Foreman.

Here is something else you can do to make points that can be redeemed for prizes,
Its a site called swagbucks I have gotten 2 $ 5.00 amazon gift cards so far,and have enough for two more, but there are lots of other things you can get to.
Here is how you do it
Searching
Games
Daily polls
Watching videos
Surveys
Trading in old phones, books, and games
Tasks
Special offers
No obligation special offers
Daily deals
And coupons!
It is fairly easy and is lots of fun!
here is the link

http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/bgt5ki8

I do it for about 5 minutes a day and average 15 swagbucks, I know its not much but it adds up pretty fast, if you had about 10 referrals you could made 50 a day without much trouble.
The way I make most of my points is 1 for using their toolbar, 1 for the daily poll, 1 for visiting their survey page, 7-32 for searching, and about 5 times a month I get 20 for entering a tournament on their game page, it takes practice to be able to do that though, if you get very good at the top played game you could get about 5000! that would be hard though.
Good luck!

Suggestion by Judy
Needs to be something you are interested in and good at, and something where there’s a need in your area so you can find customers.

Good luck.

I wish you well in what you decide to do. A home based business can be a great way to create your own income, create your own schedule, be your own boss, etc. You should realize that businesses take time to build up and you must work at it. It takes work just like everything else. If you are willing to put the effort forward, then you will do well.

Most real businesses will take some capital to get started, that’s why we call them a business. A brick and mortar type of business takes thousands to start up where an at home business can be quite a small investment with very large returns. The task is to find the one that you believe in and feel confident that you can be successful at.

See what’s out there and qualify yourself. The jobs you listed above for example, Are you great with kids? Do you have patience? Do you love animals? Do you know the price and the demand for popular clothing and styles? Etc. If you are not sure, take your time. Remember, you will need to sell yourself, your business, and your products to other people. Some of these people might very well be friends and family. If you are feeling doubts about what you are doing, they will most likely feel the same.

I am a home based business owner. (I always like the way that sounds…lol) I really enjoy and believe in what I am doing. I think that is important.

You asked for ideas, so I will post my links for you to look at. Other than the business info, I have some useful information for anyone looking to start a business at home. www.miigourmetofcleveland.org , www.mygourmetbusiness.com , and a couple videos at http://www.youtube.com/user/clevelandgourmet

GOOD LUCK IN YOUR ENDEAVOR!
Carl

In home business ideas for a stay at home mom??
I don’t want any gimicks. I am a stay at home mom of a 2 yr old daughter, and I need some extra money. I was thinking of just babysitting in my home, but I am wanting other ideas. I can’t sell avon bc I know 3 other women that sell it already & I live in a very small town. Thanks! =)

Suggestion by Cat Meow
How about Jewelry making ? Or like advertising/printing, (fylers, invitations, menus).

Suggestion by ajkep
I crochet. People who know me tend to ask for special gifts for friends at a small fee. If you are crafty, it’s a good thing to let people know! There are a lot of women who do laundry for neighbors (or even just the ironing) for a set fee or housecleaning…any of that can be done with your daughter around:)

Suggestion by I Don’t Know
ebay

Home business ideas for a Stay @ Home Mom???
I am a stay at home mom of a 2yr old. I am needing some in home business ideas. I was thinking of starting a babysitting business. But I am wanting some other ideas. No avon or anything like that. I already know 3 women that sell stuff like that and this is a small town. Anyway, thanks in advance!

Suggestion by Dr. Laura B
What about ebay? You can visit your local thrift stores, garage sales, etc. to get some products and sell on there?

Just an idea, Im sure someone will have something better. But be careful anyone who gives you a website to go to with a (example)”www.websitename.com/insertnamehere” is probably a scam.

Suggestion by *Mommy of 3*
I am a mommy of 3 small children all under 5 years old. I currently do Ameriplan. I love love love it. Check out my website www.healthrepsathome.com my phone number is on there and you can all me if you have any questions Id love to help! Q&A: What are good ideas for a women who wants to have a home base business? women wants Ideas home good business base

Suggestion by midnightmoon62
I would go towards private home nanny than home babysitter.. you can take in only one or two extra kids and charge a premium because that is still one on one time. And really, something in the realm of child care makes the most sense, I mean after all, you are staying home so that you can be with your child, right? Do you really want to be stuck in an office and still having to hire child care yourself because you need someone to watch the kid while you are busy???

Are you good at any crafts or anything like that? You could easily do a ton of different crafts while watching and with the kids. And your business could be selling the crafts that you make?

Is there any kind of service you could offer? Like say, a conceirge? Do other people’s shopping, errands…. Secretarial services. Meals on wheels if you like to cook. Most of those programs are low/reduced cost, but there is also a market for that with the financially affluent who just dont have the time.

Home based business travel expense tax question?

March 5th, 2012 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Home Based Business Jobs

Home based business travel expense tax question?
If you are leaving for your regular job in the morning but do home based business work before you go can you right off the miles from your one job driving to the next. I have recieved 2 different answer for this question for “tax pros” and want to see if anyone else might know. I ordered a book on home based business tax laws but it hasent arrived yet and I was curious now. Thanks

Suggestion by Tim
Let me see if I understand. You have two jobs. A regular one and a home based one?

If that is the case, you can not write off the travel from your home to your regular job.

Suggestion by v b
The IRS is going to see this as commuting expense. The first trip of the day from home to work and the last trip of the day from work to home is commuting. Commuting is not deductible.

Your home based business is NOT you main job.

Suggestion by DeucePrez
Instead of writing-off the mileage, write-off the gas expense….especially with the rising cost of gasoline.

Document your business use of the vehicle AFTER putting gas in your vehicle and save the receipt.

When you speak with a CPA, you can show them that you fueled up your vehicle before driving it to, say, a seminar.

Home based business tax write offs?
I just started network marketing home business. And my question is what can i write off for the taxes? I know that I can write off millage, office equipment. What else can I write off. How do I write off a cell bill I use for personal and business? Any sites where I can find this?

Suggestion by Ryan M
www.irs.gov

Suggestion by the tax lady
If you have a cell phone on an unlimited minute plan, $ 0 is deductible.

As for the office equipment, you need to document (log) the time spent on personal vs.business use. updating your facebook page is personal time. So is twitter.

For mileage, keep a log of what each trip was for, who you met, and what business you got from it. Taking someone out to dinner that you never get business from is not going to pass muster with the IRS.

Home based business travel expense tax question? travel question home expense business based

Home Based Business Tax Deductions?
I have a home based business. Let’s say that I purchase a computer that is needed for the business. I know that this is considered a business expense and is tax deductible. Do I need a certain amount before they can be taken off taxes? For instance I know you have to have a certain amount of medical expenses before you can deduct them. Is it the same for business expenses?

Suggestion by StephenWeinstein
No. Medical expenses and employee business expenses are Schedule A itemized deductions and can only be claimed if they exceed a certain percentage of your AGI. Expenses for a business that you own are deducted on Schedule C or Schedule C-EZ and may be claimed even if they are only one dollar.

A computer has a useful life of more than one year. Generally speaking, you are not allowed to deduct the entire cost in a single year and must instead deduct only the depreciation. If you qualify for a Section 179 election, then other rules may apply.

Suggestion by v b
The computer is supposed to be depreciated. Depreciation means you allocate the expense over a class life (often 5 to 7 years) and take a deduction each year for the portion used for business.

Unlike unreimbursed employee expenses, there is no threshhold on the schedule C.

Suggestion by Ralph T
Contact the IRS local office or website for specific help.
If the computer is used for a home business, you cannot have any games installed (even if you don’t play them).
You might not be able to deduct the purchase outright, but depreciate the value over a few years.
You might want to invest in a “Home and Business” financial software to keep personal and business records separate.

Suggestion by Gerardo D
You may need an extra computer and another e-mail account for your personal purpose. This way it ca be assumed the computer in the part of your house is used for business purposes. If you use the computer 100% for the business you can take an IRC 179 deduction the year yu purchased it (be careful not to forget the convention for the asset) and the remainder basis under MACRS.
